Students learn how to organize their thoughts, express ideas clearly, and speak confidently in front of others.
Public speaking is more than giving a speech. It helps students organize their thoughts, communicate clearly, think independently, and build confidence.
At Speak Up, students learn by doing — speaking, practicing, presenting, and receiving personalized feedback.
Learn how to structure a speech, tell a clear story, and communicate ideas in a way others can easily understand.
Practice eye contact, posture, vocal projection, pronunciation, body language, and stage presence.
Build confidence through impromptu speaking, persuasive speaking, and real-time response exercises.
Students develop communication skills they can use in class presentations, interviews, competitions, and everyday life.
Our classes are interactive. Students spend time speaking, practicing, presenting, and learning through real experience — not simply listening.
Small classes give students more opportunities to speak, receive individual feedback, and build confidence step by step.
Classes are led by John Henbest, an experienced educator with a background in English, theater, performance, and public speaking.
Public Speaking Coach · Educator · Performer
John brings decades of experience in education and performance to the classroom.
He studied English at The University of Texas at Austin and continued his professional theater training at The Juilliard School’s Drama Division.
His background includes professional stage performance, public speaking instruction, Toastmasters competition experience, and years of teaching students from different cultural and language backgrounds.
Having taught in the United States, China, and Japan, John understands that confidence does not appear overnight. Students build it through preparation, practice, encouragement, and the experience of speaking successfully in front of others.
At Speak Up, his goal is simple: help every student find their voice — and feel confident using it.Learn More About John
